Firmware and Software Updates

To install firmware updates for the Zpider, use the smartphone app as shown below.

Version 1.48 (Feb 19, 2019)

  • Significant improvement in the cadence algorithm to fix a quirk observed by “gplama” on YouTube. Seems to affect about some seconds of one in about 100 rides uploaded.
    (Please remember: It’s easier if you record and upload the raw data in the app whenever you see something really “wonky”. We can fix things for you much faster that way. And if you are really curious, here is our quick video response.)

Notice: No further firmware updates are planned for the Zimanox. We recommend you upgrade to one of our other and better power meter products.

These updates are valid for use on spindle based power meters from Race Face, Easton, Samox etc. If unsure about the compatibility of your power meter hardware, you can risk-free try to perform the update. All updates are cryptographically signed and secured, so you will never risk updating with a firmware file that is not designed for your power meter hardware.

To install these updates, use the smartphone app as shown below.

To install new firmware in the power meter, follow these simple steps:

  • Use the latest version of the Team ZWATT app for your smartphone
  • Make sure the power meter is turned on (spin the crank slowly 1-2 times)
  • Select the power meter to update in the app
  • Select “Update Firmware
  • Select the desired firmware version (the newest and recommended will be listed first)
  • Wait for the firmware update to complete (slightly faster if you hold the phone near the power meter)

In the rare case where the latest firmware has not been automatically downloaded to your app, you can go to “Settings” and select “Check for updates now“. This will make sure the latest firmware is available to the app.
